Explore the peaceful wilderness of Lahugala National Park with CCT Sri Lanka. Located near Arugam Bay and Pottuvil, Lahugala is one of Sri Lanka’s smallest national parks, yet it offers an exceptional wildlife experience surrounded by ancient reservoirs, forests, and open grasslands.
Despite its modest size, Lahugala is famous for attracting large herds of elephants, especially around its ancient tanks—Lahugala, Kitulana, and Senagamuwa. These water reservoirs, rich in Beru grass, create ideal feeding grounds for wildlife and provide excellent opportunities for elephant sightings.
The park’s landscape consists of dry mixed evergreen forest, scrubland, and scenic waterways lined with towering trees such as Palu, Halmilla, Satinwood, and Weera. Birdlife is abundant, while crocodiles, deer, monkeys, and many other species can also be seen during the safari.
Quiet, less crowded, and naturally beautiful, Lahugala National Park offers a relaxing safari experience for travelers seeking wildlife away from the busier parks of Sri Lanka.
