Our passionate professional guides bring these ancient sites to life far beyond what you may find in books or online. With strong academic and field research backgrounds, they offer deep insight into Sri Lanka’s Buddhist heritage, early civilization, and archaeological evolution.
This experience explores the Royal Dambulla Cave Temple, Sri Lanka’s largest and best-preserved cave temple complex, dating back to the 1st century BC. Inside, you will discover extraordinary Buddhist mural paintings covering over 2,100 m², along with 157 statues preserved across multiple caves.
The tour also includes the nearby Ibbankatuwa Megalithic Burial Site, one of Sri Lanka’s most important proto-historic burial grounds, offering insight into ancient funerary practices and early settlements.
A guided climb through the cave complex takes approximately 1.5 hours, with time to explore murals, statues, and panoramic views from the rock temple.
